SCOPE OF SERVICES

I will accept instructions as an Expert Witness in General Ophthalmology, but have a special interest in Cataract Surgery, Trauma, Laser Eye Surgery and Paediatric Ophthalmology (including alleged non-accidental injury / abusive head trauma).

I have reported on cases of birth trauma / hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy associated with visual impairment, and am willing to travel to examine these youngsters who are often very disabled and cannot travel to Hospital easily.

I aim to provide timely, reasoned, logical, and thorough reports, which can be fully Court Compliant, or screening reports, according to my instructions.

The majority of my new instructions come from recommendations from solicitors and barristers with whom I have worked.

I am happy to work via an Agency if preferred. My preferred Agency is Premex.

My service includes:

  • A turnaround time within 4 weeks of accepting instructions with all relevant documents – but a fast-track service is available on request (a fee uplift may apply)

  • Access to a full repertoire of diagnostic services including refraction, computerised visual field analysis, photography (including wide-field retinal imaging), Pentacam corneal topography and biometry

  • Attendance at conferences in person, by telephone and online

  • I have acted as an advisor to the Royal College of Ophthalmologists as an External Clinical Advisor in cases of underperformance by colleagues, and have provided reports for the Healthcare Ombudsman

  • Pro-bono advice on case merit prior to instruction (please contact me)

  • I will adjust my terms of business under certain circumstances if instructed by an agency by prior agreement before accepting formal instruction

  • I provide all reports and communications via email. All confidential material is password protected, and no client / patient identifiable data is transmitted electronically.
